Nancy Volante [describes burnout as a body that has lost the ability to settle](https://richhealthmagazine.com/article/burnout-high-achievers-miriam-putnam). The astrologer and certified wellness coach, who founded The Whispering Soul in Ridgefield, Connecticut, works on it through movement, meditation and coaching, with the client's birth chart as the map underneath. She has been through it herself more than once, and the method comes from that.

> "I've worked on my own burnout at different times in my life, and I've focused on that aspect of being human. I work with the nervous system through movement, meditation, coaching, and astrology as a foundation. It truly supports my community, and the communities I'm building through my private work, networking, teaching, and podcasts. It always helps to know you are not alone on this journey called life."
> — Nancy Volante

Her picture of burnout is physical before it is anything else: a nervous system stuck in fight or flight, unable to drop back into the calmer state where rest and repair happen. She sees it more often now, and she puts part of that down to [phones and social media that never let the body stand down](https://richhealthmagazine.com/article/the-burnout-pandemic-a-story-of-resilience-038-flow-in-a-world-in-crisis). Her coaching leans on movement, meditation, mindfulness and breathwork as much as on the chart.

## Nervous System Regulation for Burnout

Nancy's Astrology Wellness Coaching runs as a four-session program, at $150 a session, blending humanistic astrology with movement, meditation, mindfulness, breathwork and holistic coaching. The chart gives her a picture of how a client tends to move through stress, change, rest and renewal. The sessions then work on nutrition, fitness, emotional processing, spiritual connection and whatever transition the person is in the middle of, with balancing the nervous system as the stated aim across all four.

Nervous system regulation has become one of the [most talked-about wellness ideas of 2026](https://richhealthmagazine.com/article/what-happens-when-you-stop-chasing-wellness-and-start-listening-shilpi-das-on-the-healing-pow). The Global Wellness Summit named neurowellness one of the biggest wellness trends of 2026 in April, counting around 230,000 TikTok videos under the nervous system healing tag, and Gallup's 2026 State of the Global Workplace report found a record 44 percent of workers reporting significant stress on the previous day. Nancy has been teaching the body side of this since her yoga studio years, and her own numbers, she says, run to hundreds of clients through the coaching alone.

## From Professional Dancer to Professional Astrologer

Nancy opened her first yoga book at sixteen, during a period of anxiety, and went on to dance professionally in New York and Boston, then to teach theater and dance as a teaching artist in New York City public schools for fifteen years. She later founded Imagine Wellness, a yoga studio in Ridgefield, and ran it for eight years before handing it on in 2025. She holds an MFA in interdisciplinary arts and describes herself as a humanist and intuitive astrologer.

"I've studied astrology for 25 years and have been a professional astrologer for 10 years," she says. "My career took me from professional dancer, theater artist, and teacher, to owning a yoga studio for 8 years, and now to building The Whispering Soul, where I've worked with hundreds of clients through Astrology Wellness Coaching."

She founded The Whispering Soul in 2023, after what she describes as a period of spiritual re-orientation. She works in humanistic astrology, folding in psychology and intuition rather than forecasting.

## The ARCH Medicine Wheel in Astrology Wellness Coaching

> "Over the past few years, I've combined my astrology training with my Wellness Coaching certification, which includes the ARCH Medicine Wheel, a powerful tool for aligning the different aspects of the human condition. My ritual is to meet each client or group where they are, and to guide, create, and support from an authentic place."
> — Nancy Volante

ARCH stands for Alignment, Relationship, Consciousness and Healing, four directions laid out on the shamanic medicine wheel. The model was developed by Heather Ensworth, a clinical psychologist and astrologer who runs Rising Moon Healing Center in Massachusetts, and Kristina Lea, a psychosynthesis life coach, and set out in their 2020 book *From Trauma to Freedom*. Nancy trained with Heather Ensworth for four years across her programs on sacred feminine wisdom and shamanic astrology, and took her wellness coaching certification through the ARCH model, which the two women teach together.

She uses the wheel in group settings and in one-to-one sessions, walking a client through each direction in turn: connecting with inner stillness first, then finding and developing the relationships that heal, then bringing the hidden or lost parts of themselves into awareness, and finally working on practical ways to heal and integrate a new sense of self. The aim, in her words, is to settle the nervous system and reconnect with what she calls the soul self.

## Birth Chart Readings and the North Node

A one-hour birth chart reading with Nancy costs $175, and it is not a forecast. She treats the chart as a map of a person's gifts, challenges, life cycles and possibilities, and much of her work with it centers on what she calls a person's true North, drawn from the North and South Nodes. The South Node stands for what a person already knows, the patterns and skills formed over a lifetime. The North Node sits opposite and points toward what still feels unfamiliar, even uncomfortable, and that is where she says real growth happens.

"We don't want to throw anything out that's in the South," Nancy says. "We want to bring it with us to find something new." Ignoring the North Node is not a failure in her reading, just a choice, one that can leave a person feeling stuck or restless rather than doomed. "You certainly can live right where you are," she says. "It's all about what you want your potential to be."

The same approach decides who stays as a client: one person came to her wanting to know what would happen five months out, and once it was clear that a forecast was what they wanted, Nancy told them she was not the right fit rather than carrying on. "Not everybody is right for you, and you're not right for everybody," she says. For anyone unsure, she offers a free fifteen-minute Discovery Call. "The Discovery Call is about listening to what the person has to say," she explains, "and what they actually need."

## The Whispering Soul Podcast on Substack and YouTube

Every week, usually on a Wednesday, Nancy publishes The Whispering Soul Podcast on Substack and YouTube; it is also carried on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music. Each episode pairs the week's sky, the lunations, eclipses and planetary shifts she calls the astrological weather, with a wellness practice, sometimes a short guided meditation. Recent episodes have covered the Leo solar eclipse in early August, the North and South Nodes moving into Aquarius and Leo, and a two-part reflection called The Courage to Be Seen.

Her Cancer season series in June and July, written around the summer solstice and a new moon in the sign, asked listeners what home really means to them. Home, she wrote, "is not just a place, it is a feeling you carry within you," and it "is also your body, heart, and nervous system." The point of the show is to make astrology useful to people who have no interest in learning its language. "It's not about being an astrologer," she says. "It's about understanding how we live together as people, and using astrology as a way to enter that understanding."

Close Up Radio's Jim Masters interviewed Nancy on July 1 and had her back on the show on August 12.

## FAQ

**Q: Is it possible to recover from burnout?**
Nancy treats it as recoverable, but through the body rather than time off alone. Her view is that burnout is a nervous system stuck in fight or flight, so recovery means teaching it to settle again through movement, breathwork and meditation, with coaching on nutrition, rest and whatever life transition is underneath.

**Q: What does your birth chart tell you?**
In Nancy's reading it is a map of your gifts, challenges, life cycles and possibilities rather than a forecast. She pays particular attention to the North and South Nodes: the South for what you already know how to do, the North for the unfamiliar territory where growth happens.

**Q: What does your North Node say about you?**
It points to the part of life that still feels uncomfortable, and that is where Nancy says the real growth is. Ignoring it is not a failure, just a choice, though she finds it can leave a person feeling stuck or restless.

**Q: How much does a wellness coach cost?**
The Whispering Soul's Astrology Wellness Coaching package is four sessions at $150 each. A one-hour birth chart reading is $175, and the fifteen-minute Discovery Call is free.
