Kyrsta Morehouse worked as a makeup artist in Los Angeles for more than 13 years before opening a one-person skincare studio in North Canton, Ohio, where her signature treatment is a non-surgical facelift she developed herself. It combines facial cupping, microcurrent and contrast therapy, and she says it gives instant results and changes that last.

## From Los Angeles Makeup Artist to Esthetician

In Los Angeles she did makeup for photo shoots, commercials, music videos and films, much of it special-effects work. She also worked as a celebrity makeup artist and spent six years teaching makeup.

A knee injury made freelance work difficult, and by then she had become more interested in improving people's skin than in covering it with makeup. She retrained as an esthetician, going to night school four nights a week for nine months while working full time, and then opened Esthetics By Kyrsta.

Morehouse says the combination gives instant results and lasting changes, and that it "feels amazing" to have done. Her menu on Fresha, the booking platform she uses, lists it as a 60-minute Non-Invasive, Pain-Free Face Lift at $115. A custom facial costs $75 and a corrective facial $90.

Shortly after opening the studio, she launched her own skincare line, Balanced Barrier Skin Co., which she says began by accident when she created products for herself. The line is vegan, cruelty-free, botanical and small-batch, made for all genders and aimed at corrective results and a healthy skin barrier. Products include Glow Butter, Retin-Alt Complex and Stretch Butter, sold in glass jars that customers can bring back to be sterilized and refilled for less than the price of a new jar.
